50th Annual Salespersons’ Breakfast
Archie Manning was the guest speaker.
Usually at these functions you always have a motivational speaker.
Though he did have some rah- rah-rah moments, Mr. Manning’s speech was not your ordinary get out there be the best you can be kind of speech.
I personally loved what his message was.
I thought his message was more about being a leader to yourself and then you can be a leader to others.
Make a goal, ups and downs know what that goal is and strive to achieve it.
We all have managers that we complain about, there was a part of Archie’s speech that made me smile and nod my head in approval.
He said, to paraphrase here, “being a leader isn’t just being a manager, it’s knowing your staff and knowing how to leading them.
It’s not always doing what’s right, it’s doing the right thing”.
I also like the part when he said, being a good leader makes you a better spouse and a better parent.
I’ve always been a firm believer that you lead by example and that is what your children watch as they grow up.
If you want to have good kids, be a good parent! I loved how he talked about his boys, all three of them and that he went to Tiny’s Tavern and signed the back of Peyton’s chair there and the mural on the wall.
I am looking forward to reading his book that he wrote with Peyton, “Manning: A Father His Sons and A Football Legacy.”
I think I will get it for my son Triston’s birthday in August.
He is a huge football fan and yest he even kind of likes the Manning boys.
What did you think of the breakfast?
