Adley Stump Impresses Blake Shelton With Carrie Underwood’s ‘Last Name’ on ‘The Voice’

It’s obvious from her blind audition performance that Adley Stump has country music in her blood. Now, the Tulsa, Okla. native has a home on NBC’s ‘The Voice‘ — thanks to her grizzly rendition of Carrie Underwood’s ‘Last Name’ that got both Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera spinning in their chairs… Literally.

At first, Shelton wasn’t whole-heartedly considering hitting his button, but the idea of Aguilera snagging such a country great was too much to bear. He admitted that he chose to pump the big red circle once he saw that his fellow judge was sincerely interested, he was only hasty because of his already packed team.

In the end, the win was all Shelton’s, though it wasn’t as easy of a battle as you would have guessed. The ‘Honey Bee’ hitmaker fought tooth and nail for his girl, even trading insults and injuries with the pop vocalist judge. As the only remaining judges who still needed a teammate on tonight’s final blind auditions episode, the pair bickered back and forth, figuratively tugging Stump and almost tearing her in half.

She chose Team Blake, despite the fact that she grew up idolizing Aguilera and her big voice. While Stump has a big voice herself, we think her country heart will override that on ‘The Voice’ — and clearly she and Shelton, who both call Oklahoma home, have something in common.

As for her Underwood cover, we’d say it was even spicier than the original. While Stump doesn’t quite have the grace and vocal beauty that the ‘American Idol’ winner boasts, she’s got spunk and grit, which will suit her just well in the genre, because if there’s anyone who loves sassy country girls, it’s Blake Shelton.
