It's no secret. I support animal adoption from local shelters. I have done this a number of times and think it's important for all involved.

My family and I have had some very close friends because of pet adoption and I wouldn't change those relationships for the world.

Our most successful adoption was a dog named Bud. He was a Red Heeler that had been abused from birth. He was beaten and even burned. We took him in after he had been brought back to health and he turned out to be the best friend anyone could ask for. All he wanted was to be loved and in return, he was the most loving, protective dog I have ever seen. He died 6 years ago this last August.

I can't seem to find a picture of Bud so the picture above is actually of another Red Heeler we had named Honey. She looked just like him only smaller.

I would do anything to have a dog like Bud or Honey again, but nothing will ever replace them. I will have another dog when I can though. Just gotta keep watching the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter.

I'd like to hear about your most successful pet adoption. Tell me about it at 406-248-5665.
