Alex Karpovsky Is a Good Guy in Disguise on ‘Girls’ – The Daily Swoon

As we celebrate the guys of ‘Girls‘ in preparation for the premiere of season two this Sunday, let us not overlook Alex Karpovsky, the guy who charmed the sweet and virginal Shoshanna — and us, too.
On the HBO series, Karpovsky plays Ray, Charlie’s best friend and manager of a local coffee shop. Ray is sarcastic and sort of cynical, very protective of his BFF, and sometimes he can come off like kiiiind of a jackass — but then he watched over Shoshanna that night she accidentally smoked crack, and the two of them started to like each other, and we got to see a much softer, sweeter side of Ray.
Hopefully Ray can still be funny and sweet in the upcoming season. I’d hate to see him break Shoshanna’s adorable little heart.
This is Karpovsky’s second project with ‘Girls’ creator and star Lena Dunham — he also starred in her debut film, ‘Tiny Furniture.’ In addition to working in front of the camera, Karpovsky is also an indie filmmaker, writing and directing features like ‘Rubberneck,’ ‘Red Flag’ and ‘Woodpecker.’
Karpovsky, like his ‘Girls’ castmates, is a total cutie — I mean, his hair alone is worth wasting a few minutes Googling him.
