As we grow into adults and get into our hustle and bustle of work life, it's easy to for us to forget our carefree, fun-loving life we had as a kid.

I forgot how much I had given up until this last weekend.

My oldest son came to me Sunday and asked if I would like to play football with him in the back yard. I quickly accepted and we headed out. This soon turned in a full football game with all of my boys and some of the neighbor kids popping into play.

I had forgotten how much fun that was.

We didn't stop there. I looked down at one point and saw a grasshopper in the grass. After I alerted all the kids, it turned into a hunt with the glory going to whoever caught the most and biggest grasshoppers. I lost.

After that, we just laid on the grass looking up at the sky talking about how we couldn't see the stars yet but how the moon looked cool.

Before the night was over, I found myself in the back of my truck in the pitch black, star gazing. I had not done this since I was child. The kids grew tired so it ended up just being me out there admiring something that I thought I had lost years ago.

There's the old saying, "Stop and smell the roses," but we never really do that anymore. I can't believe the stress that was lifted off me, just by being a kid again.

I know I will find myself doing a lot more of these activities in the future. What about you?
