This morning, Mark and Paul talked about the latest editorial in the Billings Gazette, which makes fun of Metra Park for booking a show next month with country singer Leroy Van Dyke.

Well, here's our opinion.  The Gazette doesn't know what they're talking about.  Take it from a couple of guys who have actually worked behind the scenes to bring artists to Billings.  It's not easy and it sure ain't cheap.

In the article, the Gazette points out that Charlie Daniels is planning an upcoming concert in Livingston.  They neglected to mention, or maybe they forgot, that Charlie Daniels came to Billings not long ago for a show at the Alberta Bair.

The fact is, we'd love to have the Rolling Stones and Garth Brooks come to town every weekend, but concert promotion is a business.  And if it doesn't make dollars, it doesn't make sense.  The last thing we need is for the tax payers to foot the bill for concerts.  God knows the City of Billings already has way too many tax payer supported projects as it is.

Here's an idea.  If the Gazette thinks it's easy to book concerts, why don't they put their money where their mouth is.  Let's see who they can afford to bring to Billings.

And, for the record, even though he hasn't had a "hit" since the 60's, there's a lot of Flakes fans who would love to see Leroy Van Dyke.   Which is why, we'll have your chance to win free tickets to that show coming up next month.
