Sometimes its the small things that make a difference in our lives.  This morning on the Billings Morning News is the example of that sentence. Our job is to report the news, issues and topics of Billings each morning.  We did that like always on the morning of January 21st.

The agenda was to first talk about the $22 million in savings to Billings taxpayers from the School Bond that was voted in several months ago.  We talked about that at the top of the show. Then at 6:38 a.m. a call from “Scott”, a long time listener to the show came in, calling about his lost dog.

We normally don’t find time for lost pets on the show, but something inside of me said,

make time for this call.

Maybe it was the weird fact that my two dogs stood at the top of the stairs at 4 a.m. acting like they were saying goodbye to me this morning.  Usually they are slumbering on their doggy beds.

Scott’s family Beagle, named Desmond has been missing since this past Saturday.  The lost dog devastated the family all last weekend.  Scott told us that they were prepared to take the week off from work to search for their beloved “family member”.

During our conversation on air, Scott said he was offering a $5,000 reward for the return of his Beagle.  I asked him to repeat that amount.  We asked for description, the area lost, all the normal questions.  The Billings Morning News went to break after about two minutes on air with Scott and his story.

Two minutes into the break, the studio phone rings again, it was Scott.  Hearing some emotion in his voice, I asked if he was okay.  Scott said,

true story, Desmond has returned!

Scott’s Beagle showed up on his dog bed outside on their back porch.  He was safe and unharmed!  Scott thanked Harv and I for getting his message out and him and his family were once again getting back to normal!

It is just nice to know that this turned out to be a happy ending and that Desmond the Beagle, reunited with his sister Beagle and his human family and of course he was listening to the Billings Morning News and returned home.

It was a pleasure to meet Scott after the show and he has vowed to pay it forward with a donation for my upcoming Freezin’ For A Reason promotion in February!
