In a sign of the times for the once-mighty retail giant, Billings’ West Park Promenade Sears store will close– along with at least 62 more stores as sales at the former Big-Box retail and catalog behemoth continue to plunge and corporate losses mount. The list of store closings was announced Thursday by its parent company, Sears Holdings.

The news release identified 100 non-profitable Sears and Kmart stores and picked 63 of those under-performing units for closure [quote] “in the near future.” [end quote] The Billings store on Grand Avenue and 62 others are scheduled to close in September, according to the company.

Liquidation sales are scheduled to begin in a few weeks on June 14th. Sears overall revenue fell 31 percent in the three months ending May 5. Sales fell 12 percent at the stores that remained open.
