BMW Motorcycles of America Rally Coming to Billings
In years past Billings has hosted the Gold Wings and the Harley Clubs. The secret is out! MetraPark and Billings will host the 2015 BMW Motorcycles of America Rally! The Billings Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau held a press conference on January 20th to make the “next big thing” announcement for the Summer of 2015.
It is always good to work ahead on an event like the BMW Motorcycle Rally to properly prepare area restaurants, hotels & motels, gas stations and retail stores for the influx of up to 7,500 visitors over the weekend of July 23-25, 2015.
Bob Aldridge is President of the BMW club and spoke to the media via Skype. Aldridge was asked why the choice was Billings?
because of the day rides to Redlodge, the Beartooth Highway and the Little Big Horn monument. They are all great rides in and around Billings.-Bob Aldridge
We loved the vibrant downtown!-Bob Aldridge
Gary Smith is the local BMW member and he puts it this way,
there are two types of riders, those who have ridden the Beartooths and those who want to-Gary Smith
This huge event is about a year and a half away but on that July weekend, if 3,000 stay in local motels and hotels, that alone is an impact to Billings of $2.7 million! That does not include restaurant use and shopping at Billings stores.
The total estimated total impact is around $5 million. The Billings Chamber/CVB envisions half the rally goers will camp on MetraPark grounds in R.V.’s
