It’s safe to say that Brantley Gilbert is one of the hottest rising stars in country music right now. As a songwriter, his tunes ‘My Kinda Party’ and ‘Dirt Road Anthem,’ recorded by Jason Aldean, and his own chart-topping hit, ‘Country Must Be Country Wide,’ soared, pushing him over the top and making him a fan favorite.

Understandably, with that kind of fame comes financial stability. So just how has Gilbert rewarded himself for his successes? Surprisingly, not like some would do in his situation. “I’m kind of tight with money, but every now and then I’ll splurge,” Gilbert tells Taste of Country with a laugh. “I just got a new gun! That works for me. I’m actually building a house in my hometown, so that’s my reward.”

“Everything this year’s been great,” Brantley continues. “Jason’s been good to us. I’m really glad to see awesome things happen for him and for me, as well. It’s a great milestone, and I’m just really happy where I’m at.”

Gilbert’s year will only continue to improve. This summer, the Georgia native will hit the road with Toby Keith on his Live in Overdrive Tour, and later this fall, Gilbert has a few surprises of his own, including a headlining tour.

“The new tour, that’s a surprise,” he says, grinning. “I think we’re going to have another single off this album. We’re watching [the current single] ‘You Don’t Know Her Like I Do’ coming up the charts right now and enjoying that, but I think there’s still a little more to come off this album. Be looking out for that!”
