Carrie Underwood just released the first single from her new record on Thursday (Feb. 23), debuting the song ‘Good Girl‘ at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville and through iTunes. The next day, Underwood performed at a 2012 Oscars launch party in Beverly Hills, where she offered up a killer acoustic version of the song with a live band, which you can see in the clip below.

“I have a new album coming out, and we just released the new single off of it yesterday,” Underwood told her audience. “This is the second time we’ve ever performed it anywhere … the first time acoustic. I love this song. It’s a lot of fun. It’s kind of a rockin’ song.” Then, she encouraged fans to listen to the more acoustic live version and compare it with the uptempo studio cut.

Also coinciding with the release of her new single was Underwood’s decision to finally break down and join the world of Twitter. Though she held out for a remarkably long time, the ‘Before He Cheats’ singer joined the world of tweets and had more than 10,000 followers in her first hour.

Underwood’s fourth studio album, which is still without a name, is slated to drop May 1. She’s working with her tried and true producer Mark Bright once again for this record, which is a follow-up to her 2009 smash, ‘Play On.’
