Just because the rest of us have been wearing out Carrie Underwood‘s ‘Blown Away’ album all summer doesn’t mean that the country star likes to listen to her own music. The fact that ‘Blown Away’ sat perched atop the Billboard country chart for five straight weeks doesn’t seem to phase her either. In a recent interview with Australia’s ‘The Morning Show,’ Underwood admitted that she hasn’t listened to the record for a while.

“In the beginning, when you make the album, you just want to make sure everything’s perfect,” the 29-year-old superstar said in the interview. “So I do listen to it quite a bit in the beginning, and then after that, it’s like, ‘I don’t want to hear myself anymore.’ It’s weird.”

Although Underwood has had her fill of listening to ‘Good Girl’ and other tracks on the 15-song album, she concedes that she works hard to make music that everyone will like.

“You have people like Keith Urban (with) more rock influence, a lot of guitar, more musicianship. You have people that are more on the pop contemporary side. You have really traditional country artists, and I feel like I’m somewhere in the middle of all of that,” she explained. “I want to make country music that everybody can like.”

Underwood’s interview came in the midst of her 2012 Blown Away tour leg in the Land Down Under. Although she was quick to tell ‘The Morning Show’ host that she enjoyed her time in Australia, she started to sound a little bit homesick by the end of the interview. As you can imagine, the whirlwind of success that the ‘Mama’s Song’ hitmaker has experienced since winning ‘American Idol’ in 2005 has limited the time she can spend with family.

“I don’t get to see my dad too much or go home as much as I used to,” she admitted. “That’s probably the hardest part. There’s so many wonderful things about my life now. Everything is different. My life has done a complete turnabout…but, yeah, the travel and not getting to see the family is kind of the hardest part.”

Sounds like the five-time Grammy award-winner has her heart in the right place! The Oklahoma native also dished that she and her husband, Nashville Predators hockey player Mike Fisher, have a hard time juggling their busy schedules.

Now that Underwood’s Australian tour dates are in the bag, she has a few months off before her schedule picks up this Fall. Hopefully she’ll have enough down time to work in some much-needed family time!
