A solo album every four or five years leaves Heidi Newfield sounding like a new woman with each lead single. Much like ‘Johnny and June’ in 2008, the former lead singer of Trick Pony throws every ounce of herself into ‘Why’d You Have to Be So Good,’ a heartbreakingly wonderful ballad.

Dierks Bentley has done something interesting with his new single ‘Tip It on Back’ from the ‘Home’ album. The singer marries the spirit of songs like ‘Free and Easy’ — and more recently, ‘Am I the Only One’ — with the sexy pace of his most famous ballads (think ‘Come a Little Closer’ and ‘Feel That Fire’).
On previous albums, Colt Ford backed himself into a tight corner, insisting he’s not rap while spitting rap-like messages of country life, love and fun. The singer admits that by aiming to please everyone, he left most feeling a few bites short of a full meal. This isn’t a problem on ‘Declaration of Independence.’
‘American Child’ was originally released on Aug. 6, 2002, but re-released in early 2003 with two additional tracks, including eventual single ‘This Us God.’ The reissue also included the Huey Lewis and the News cut, ‘Workin’ for a Livin.’
Lauren Alaina‘s ‘Eighteen Inches’ lyrics are a smash because they were penned by three A-list writers in Nashville, one of them being Carrie Underwood. And Alaina’s drones of fans and unmatched vocals don’t hurt, either.
August 6, 2012 Mark was curios about Miranda Lambert's wardrobe in the music video for her single "Fastest Girl In Town". Well sadly it doesn't appear to be the dress she is wearing on the cover of her album. But the good news is she looks great in just about anything she wears.
The Grand Ole Opry has been digging through its vaults and posting performances on its YouTube page. One of the highlights is Scotty McCreery‘s rousing rendition of Garth Brooks’ No. 1 hit from 1990, the ballad ‘The Dance.’
The new single from the Lost Trailers continues down a singer-songwriter path the now-duo began to cut with ‘Underdog’ in 2011. While once a party band, their new sound is more Jason Mraz than Jason Aldean. The change fits.

Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw and Eric Church all make strong debuts on the Top 40 Country Songs list for August, but none of their singles were good enough to take down a song that ranked No. 2 on the July 2012 list. Aldean comes closest, with ‘Take a Little Ride’ making a Top 5 debut this month.
