Before Carson Daly began ticking off the results of the second season of ‘The Voice,’ he told Jermaine Paul that “You are not a background singer anymore.” Of course the longtime Alicia Keys vocalist had proven himself as a featured act before being announced the winner on Tuesday night but, his win vindicated a career’s worth of hard work and sacrifice.

Lady Antebellum took the Hollywood stage on ‘The Voice’ Tuesday night, and left to a standing ovation from the live studio audience after singing their new single ‘Wanted You More.’ The power-ballad featured Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley dramatically pleading with each other in a way their loyal fans have become familiar with.

Between ‘The Voice’ and ‘Duets,’ country music stars are becoming very well represented on the small screen. And soon, Jason Aldean will be added to the list of crooners doubling as reality TV stars. Aldean will take part in E!’s new show ‘Opening Act,’ which premieres on July 9.

No matter what the outcome of ‘The Voice’ season finale on Tuesday night, Jermaine Paul has left a strong impression on the show’s coaches — and perhaps more importantly, television viewers at home. The longtime Alicia Keys backup singer made his case to be crowned champion with three superb performances, including a duet of ‘Soul Man’ with Blake Shelton.

Just when judges were beginning to believe 18-year-old country cutie Skylar Laine could win ‘American Idol,’ viewers sent her home. The Brandon, Miss. native was eliminated on Thursday night, receiving the fewest votes of the remaining five contestants.

‘Glee,’ Fox’s hit musical television show about a high school glee club, is known for it’s larger-than-life covers of popular songs. Coming up this season, on May 15, Coach Bieste (Dot-Marie Jones) and Puck (Mark Salling) will collaborate on a duet of ‘Mean,’ the No. 1 song off of Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ album — with a glee club-style twist, of course.

On Wednesday night (May 2), Blake Shelton took the stage at ‘The Tonight Show’ to perform his new single ‘Over’ after a short — but hilarious — interview with Jay Leno. Shelton took on the role of a tell-all star as he dished about his role on ‘The Voice,’ his one-year anniversary with songstress Miranda Lambert and his deep, deep hatred for skinny jeans.

Skylar Laine made it to the ‘American Idol‘ Top 5 and for tonight’s episode (May 2), she had to sing a song by a ’60s artist and a song by a Britpop act. The spunky songstress from Mississippi is peaking when it matters and she could very well end up being the Season 11 winner.

Even those who haven’t been watching ‘The Voice‘ this season will want to tune into the Season 2 finale. A star-studded line-up — including Lady Antebellum, Justin Bieber, Daryl Hall and John Oates, and Flo Rida — is on the slate for the May 8 final episode.
