Country radio listeners will be hearing Charles Kelley's "Lonely Girl" coming out of their speakers soon; the singer has selected the track as his newest single.

"Lonely Girl" is the fifth track from Kelley's recent debut solo album, The Driver. The song is a funky little number that's equal parts soulful, poppy and '70s-style groovy; in its chorus, Kelley sings, "Lonely girl / You're the only girl for me / Can't you see? / When you're all alone / Put this record on in your room / Oh, and you won't be lonely / You won't be lonely, girl."

“I’ve been wanting to cut this song since I heard it about three years ago,” Kelley says in a press release. “At the time, it wasn’t the right fit for Lady A[ntebellum], so when we started digging into my solo project, I knew it would be a big part of the record."

"Lonely Girl" was written by Chris Stapleton and Jesse Frasure, and while Kelley admits that it's "not easy to follow Stapleton's demo," he "put my own little spin on it, and it's turned out to be a favorite live."

Kelley will have plenty of opportunities to perform "Lonely Girl" live when he begins his The Driver Tour on April 9 in Washington, D.C. He'll also be singing the song live at the 2016 ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 3).

"Lonely Girl" and all of The Driver are available for download via iTunes.
