One of the most dangerous and iconic foes the X-Men have ever faced in the pages of the comic book has been the Sentinels, massive robots constructed to specifically hunt down and kill mutants. We've known for some time now that these horrifying 'bots would play a major role in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' but thanks to the Comic-Con 2013 show floor, we now know what they'll look like.

As you can see below, the new design isn't a total reinvention of the classic, purple-colored look, but it's definitely slicker and more modern. It doesn't have the bizarrely human face that has defined the Sentinels in the past, looking more like a cousin to the Transformers than anything else. This alone may get some fanboys in a tizzy, but we won't judge the final product based on a display head. For all we know, this design will kick some serious ass when we see the whole thing in action.

Also of minor note: behind the head, you can see the logo for Trask Industries, the company behind the creation of the Sentinels. It's the worst kept secret in the world that Peter Dinklage will be playing company head Bolivar Trask in the film, a detail that should be officially announced at the film's Comic-Con panel this week. Will we also see debut footage of the Sentinels themselves? Maybe. Hopefully.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' arrives on May 23rd, 2014. What do you think of the new look for the Sentinels?
