Delta Rae fits between genres. The six-piece band from Durham, N.C. is sometimes pop, sometimes country or Americana, and often folk. Usually there’s some soul, but as you’ll see in this four-song video medley, the group is never predictable. If country radio becomes their home, it’s going to be a wild ride.

The band started as a four-piece, with the Holljes siblings (Ian, Eric and Brittany) teaming up with Elizabeth Hopkins shortly after the boys finished college at Duke University. They quickly gained a following in central North Carolina, before signing with Sire Records this year. You’ll find them in the current issue of Rolling Stone, featured in the Women Who Rock contest.

The magazine indicates that Brittany Holljes is the frontwoman, but all three siblings, as well as Hopkins, can be found taking lead. In addition to this medley, the group has released a dramatic video for ‘Bottom of the River,’ a song from their new ‘Carry the Fire’ album. You can find that video at their official website.

Still not convinced of Delta Rae’s talent? If you can believe it, this medley video — featuring ‘Morning Comes,’ ‘If I Loved You,’ ‘Is There Anyone Out There’ and ‘Bottom of the River’ — was shot in one take.
