While we wait anxiously to see what Summit will show us at the 'Divergent' panel at Comic-Con this afternoon, the studio has gone ahead and released one juicy bit of information: in addition to the film's theatrical release, 'Divergent' will also get remastered for fancy-shmancy IMAX.

Starring Shailene Woodley in the lead role, 'Divergent' is one of the hottest up-and-coming YA adaptations around. The film hits theaters next spring, but now Summit has announced that 'Divergent' will also be remastered for an IMAX release, hitting theaters on March 21, 2014. An IMAX release is a pretty big deal, and signifies that the studio believes the film is visually epic and engaging enough to warrant the mega-screen treatment.

The official synopsis:

Divergent is directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist) from a screenplay by Evan Daugherty and Vanessa Taylor and Burger and stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet (Titanic). The film is a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.

Be sure to check back here later today for details on the official 'Divergent' panel!
