Two Different Groups Perform the Dixie Chicks’ ‘Sin Wagon’ During Group Rounds on ‘American Idol’
The Dixie Chicks and Nashville songwriter Stephony Smith should be looking forward to some nice royalty checks from the 1999 song ‘Sin Wagon.’ Never released as an official single, the song has gone on to be a long-term career song for the Chicks, and two different groups performed the track on ‘American Idol‘ during group rounds on Wednesday night (Feb. 13).
First up were Raisin’ Cain, which included Morgan Leigh Boberg, Lauren Mink and Brandy Hotard. They came out in cowgirl boots and country costumes and delivered a fun, flirty version of the song that impressed the ‘Idol’ judges so much that they sent all four women through to the next round.
Then came the Dolly Chicks, consisting of Brittnee Kellogg, Kree Harrison, Brandy Neelly and Haley Davis. The group had already had a hard night, as Davis decided to go to bed early instead of staying up to rehearse with the others.
Despite their divisions, the foursome still managed to impress the judges with their spirited rendition of the song. The judges ended up sending everyone except Neelly through to the next round. Neelly also appeared on ‘Idol’ last season, and she took the news with grace, vowing that the judges had not heard the last of her.
