Do Billings Children Really Need a Half Million Dollar Water Fountain? [Opinion]

The city of Billings has just announced a new fountain water feature that will be ready for the South Park pool by 2016. The price tag -- a half of million dollars.

In these tight fiscal times we are now experiencing, do you think the kids could still cool off in the pool and slides without the fountain? We now have an $18 million library, $12 million dollar ball field, $1 million dollar bike tunnel, new sound panels at MetraPark, a half million dollar softball field for West High but no money for law enforcement or jail space.

No wonder the public is so reluctant to help the city anymore. No fiscal restraint or fiscal responsibility.
