If you ever needed proof that pets are becoming more and more like real members of the family, check this out.

A new survey has found that 18% of pet owners have chatted with their furry friends using Skype, FaceTime or some other video application.

What's more, 17% have created a social media account for their pet, while 25% are friends or followers of a pet online.

It's a wonder we're so devoted to our pets, considering 28 million people saying their animals have destroyed one of their devices, with smartphones the most likely item to get damaged. Male dogs are especially dangerous -- they're 86% more likely to ruin a device than females.
