Joey + Rory's Rory Feek posted a new blog on Friday evening (March 4) to let fans know that his wife had died. He also shared a video Dolly Parton made for Joey, which included Joey's unfiltered reaction to the message from the country legend.

Rory filmed his video in November. It’s the most candid, revealing look at Joey yet, with the camera set on the 40-year-old as she breaks down into tears as her hero wishes her well and admits she’s a fan of the duo, too.

“How did that happen?” Joey asked weakly as tears welled up. Rory is seen grabbing her hand to tell her that Parton found out about her and sent the video without warning.

"It's better than meeting her," Joey replied.

Rory writes in the This Life I Live blog that Joey never met Parton, her singing hero. Family and friends gathered to watch Hope Floats, but Rory hit play on this video from Parton instead. “It was the most beautiful moment I have ever been part of,” Rory says.

Though this is, and has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy. There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share in this blog. But I try.

Joey Feek died at the age of 40 on March 4, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Rory had documented every step of their journey together through his blog, sharing candid photos of himself, his wife and daughter. He says he plans to return home to Tennessee soon, with 2-year-old Indiana and his older daughters in tow.
