And now for the most shocking announcement we've heard since they started building the thing...the downtown Billings parking garage is finally ready to open.  We've seen fire and we've seen rain.

Seriously, the construction has taken so long that we can't even remember when they starting building that thing.  One thing's for sure, they weren't in a hurry.

In case you're curious, the $13 million project will contain 540 parking spaces.  That works out to roughly $24,000 per space.  Presuming they were to charge $8 per day for each space, they would need to completely fill the garage for over 3,000 days before they made their money back.

Of course, adding 540 additional cars to an already crowded area comes with its own problems.  We're sure that 5 pm train on 27th is going to be very convenient for people driving home from work.  But look at it on the bright side, not only will the new garage accommodate travelers and professionals, but imagine all of the transients who will be able to crash in it on nights and weekends.
