FX summer drama 'The Bridge' suffered a bit of a loss recently when co-showrunner Meredith Stiehm was called back to 'Homeland' for its inevitable fourth season, but the acclaimed FX border procedural at least has a bright spot heading into production on season 2. 'The Descendants' star Matthew Lillard and 'Breaking Bad' heartbreaker Emily Rios have been moved up to series regular, following acclaimed guest turns in the first season.

Returning in 2014, stars Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir as detectives from El Paso and Juarez, Mexico who partner to solve a mysterious murder along the US-Mexican Border. From Deadline, both Lillard and Rios (widely known as Jesse's latest unfortunate 'Breaking Bad' love interest Andrea) will reprise their roles as El Paso journalists Daniel Frye and Ariana Mendez.

‘The Bridge’ also stars ‘Silence of the Lambs’ icon Ted Levine, Annabeth Gish and Thomas M. Wright, with season 2 likely picking up the ongoing thread of border relations, where much of the first season moved away from the politics to a more general murder mystery. A mysterious cash-filled home discovered by Lillard and Rios' characters toward the final will also play prominently into the second season.

We enjoyed the first season of 'The Bridge,' but what say you? Will the FX border drama focus more on its strengths in the second season? Check out the teaser below, and tell us what you think.
