Can’t wait for Alive After 5 this week!  One of my favorite local bands is headlining the fun this Thursday night in downtown Billings!  Be sure to come out and join us at Q Cuisine, Café Italia and The McCormick Café for live music from none other than Funk in the Trunk!  Their classic funk and soul is geared to make you move!

“Funk in the Trunk” – a dynamic nine-piece band – burst onto the Billings music scene in 2008.  Leader and drummer, Matt Devitt, left his position as percussionist with the Billings Symphony Orchestra in 2007 specifically to have time to put the four-horn frontline and five piece rhythm section into rehearsal.   Other members of the band include: Gy Moody, former singer for Battlestar Kramden and The Ruckus; Dave Green, a choir teacher at West High; on trombone and vocals, Tony Hammond, Rocky Mountain College’s new band director; Guitarist Alex Nauman, who plays with various other groups around Billings and is Hansen Music’s new guitar teacher; long time Billings Symphony Orchestra bassist Robin Martinez who is also the bassist in Devitt’s jazz band 4 or More; trumpeter Jeff Long, Senior High Band director and 4 or More member; Brent Koch on tenor sax, former member of the Ruckus; and long time local musician Paul Lechner on baritone sax, also is the leader of the Shrine Big Band.  Check out this performance at Bones Brewing in May 2010!

Alive After 5 runs from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m.  There will be food and cocktails so come down and jam with us!  We’ll see you there!
