It seems we all are addicted to something. Whether it be cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, food or whatever. It can be very difficult to get over something that has become so embedded in our lives.

I know this. I have an addictive personality. I used to smoke cigarettes like they were going out of style. Now, I can't live without Mountain Dew. I also used to be very addicted to smokeless tobacco.

I overcame the cigarettes and chew with the help of a few things.

  • First, talking with my doctor and having the support of my wife and kids got me on medication that put me on the path of recovery. The right mindset was absolutely necessary, too.
  • Second, focus and dedication. Telling myself constantly that I didn't need it anymore.
  • Third, Caramel Apple suckers. Yep, that's right. I ate those things like crazy and my teeth paid for it.

It's different for everybody. Whatever combination works is the way to go in my opinion. The bottom line is that you have to be ready in your mind and body to take it on.

I still have my vices. Mountain Dew, like I mentioned before and I tend to vape at times. I personally am not quite ready to give those things up yet, but when I am, you can bet I will get it done.

Have you quit a habit before? What worked for you? Holla, 406-248-5665.
