‘Glee’ Season 4: Cory Monteith Enters Rehab, Will Sit Out Season’s End

Glee Season 4 Cory Monteith Rehab

Glee‘ fans well know that the series’ season 4 set out to be one of change and transition, moving several characters into the New York setting while introducing a number of additional characters back in the primary setting of Lima, Ohio. Now, as the series prepares for its endgame, with no official season 5 renewal announced, ‘Glee’ has made a change it did not intend. Series star Cory Monteith has entered rehab for substance abuse, but how will it affect the end of the current season?

The real world can often take a heavy toll on a TV series, as ‘Glee’ becomes the latest victim of behind-the-scenes drama. Series lead Cory Monteith has officially entered a rehab facility to treat his issues with substance abuse, which Deadline reveals has altered the final two episodes of ‘Glee’s’ fourth season to exclude Monteith’s character Finn Hudson.

“Cory is a beloved member of the ‘Glee’ family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment,” ‘Glee’ producer 20th Century Fox TV said in a statement. “Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return.” Monteith also received messages of support from on-screen and real-life love interest Lea Michele, as well as ‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy. Monteith has battled substance abuse in real life before, having entered a rehab facility once before at the age of 19.

Monteith’s character absence will be addressed on-screen for the final two episodes of the season, but what say you? Do you think Monteith will return to the series, assuming FOX negotiates for a fifth season? How have you found the show in transition?
