Got Time To Save Someone’s Life Today?

Many of us are a little light on funds this time of year, but today you can give one of the most important, needed and life saving gifts there is - your blood. We'll be doing a live broadcast from United Blood Services from 11 a.m. 'til 1 p.m. today (Tuesday 1/2/18).

Just so you know, in order to supply our region with blood, UBS needs a minimum of 100 donors each and every day. If you've never given blood before, this could be a great New Year's resolution for you. Every donation can save the lives of three people. That probably beats most of the presents you gave or received over the holiday season.

Personally, I have lost a lot of family members to cancer and know first hand that it takes a lot of our blood supply just to fight this disease. About 30% of UBS's blood supply goes toward fighting cancer. If you have someone you know going through this battle, it's just a another reason to get motivated and come do this.

Full disclosure: I won't be donating today, but I have a really good excuse. I just donated about two weeks ago and that's less than the minimum time you're allowed between donations; however, I already have my appointment booked for next month. It's a satisfying experience and even if needles aren't necessarily your thing, you have to consider the fact that it's way less scary than the thought of someone needing blood and not having any available.
