Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer is promoting Montana in a big way!  Schweitzer says he will be traveling to New York later this month for an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

KRTV reports that the Governor made the announcement today in Great Falls while addressing the Montana Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Recreation.  He also says an ad campaign promoting Montana as a tourist destination will soon launch in New York.

Tourism is a huge part of the state’s economy. In 2010, more than 10 million visitors came to the Treasure state and spent $2.4 million dollars.

In case you didn’t know, David Letterman is one of Montana’s most famous part-time residents and owns a home near Choteau.
