My wife and I are the kind to get into the Christmas spirit pretty heavily. My wife more than I. We like to decorate the house inside and out and make for a large spectacle for our kids. Our parents did this for us and it has given us fond memories throughout our years. We hope it will do the same for our kids. Pretty much everything is Christmas from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year's.

One year though, we thought all was lost.

My wife wanted to do something extra special to lift our spirits.

She handcrafted a wreath from tree trimmings and decorated it with the nicest things she could find. She came across some old, antique ornaments that she had received from her great grandmother before she passed years ago. Against her better judgment, she decided to use some of these ornaments as decorations for this wreath and It looked fantastic.

It was hung on the inside of our front door to protect it from the weather and we didn't use this door very much so we both thought it would be fine here.

Things were fine until a few days before Christmas. A bad storm had come up. It was snowing and the wind was blowing hard. A neighbor had come over and as they went to leave, the wind caught that door and flung it open very hard. Wreath went flying and all those ornaments were broke beyond repair. Obviously, my wife was devastated.

Things were rough for a while, but they got better and we both learned a valuable lesson that year.
