Happy Birthday Mr. President!
Today would have been President Ronald Reagan’s 103rd Birthday, he was born February 11, 1911. It seems like just a few years ago that I sat in science class and we heard the news that the President had been shot.
Even as a sophomore in school I can remember the fear and sadness I felt.
Long before I began to pay attention to what was going on in our country and became politically savvy and interested in how those elected are running our country.
I still can’t believe that it has been ten years since he has passed.
There are still so many things about this man that I miss as our President.
With the state of our country today, it makes you truly appreciate the likes of this great man.
I often forget that as a young man and into his adulthood, Reagan was a Democrat and it wasn’t until 1962 that he switched to the Republican Party.
President Ronald Reagan was the true story of succeeding.
He went from serving our country in the Military, to being a radio announcer.
He was a popular film and television actor and then went on to be the 33rd Governor of California and then became the 40th President of the United States.
A conservative icon, he ranks highly in public opinion polls of U.S. Presidents and is credited for generating an ideological renaissance on the American political right.
Reagan left office in 1989. In 1994, the former president disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease earlier in the year; he died ten years later at the age of 93.
If President Reagan were alive today, what questions would you ask him?
