Obviously, the holiday meal season is upon us. For us, it's Flakesgiving all of this week, as we put together meals for families, so that they can stay home and have a meal together.

And it got me thinking back to my childhood and our holiday meals together as a family. The men most sat in the living room and smoked until the food was ready. That was just the way it was back then (in the 60's). Then, after the women had worked all day, they ate last and THEN, did all of the dishes.

I took for granted all of the hard work those ladies did. And I sure took having all that food for granted, knowing now that we couldn't always afford all of the food that was on the table in front of me.

I appreciate it now. And I'm really looking forward to the holiday meals this year.
