Now in its 25th year, RiverStone Health Hospice Services will celebrate the lives of those who have passed and will be missed during the holiday season.

The hallmark of the celebration is the Hospice Tree of Lights ceremony, which begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 15 at RiverStone Health, 123 S. 27th St.

The non-denominational ceremony includes an invocation, reading names of those who are missed and lighting of the tree on the RiverStone Health campus. Refreshments will also be served.

The Tree of Lights ceremony offers community members a chance to celebrate the lives and remember the loss of a loved one, whether that loved one died weeks or years ago, according to Donna Healy, communications projects specialist for RiverStone Health.

Each light honors a loved one and shines throughout the holiday season. The names of those honored by the tree’s lights are displayed on scrolls in RiverStone Health’s Lil Anderson Center.

Contributions to the Tree of Lights help RiverStone Health Hospice Services to provide care to terminally ill people and their families regardless of their financial situation, according to a news release.  RiverStone Health Hospice Services offers professional medical services, pain and symptom control, and emotional and spiritual support.  This comfort-oriented care, delivered in an individual’s home or at the RiverStone Health Hospice Home, focuses on maintaining quality of life rather than hastening or postponing death. The care helps families face the end-of-life with dignity, courage and strength.
