I saw an interesting article today ranking the states in order based on length of time it takes to save a million dollars.  They basically took the median income for each state, median living expenses each state and calculated the time it takes to save a million dollars based on the difference.

So where did Montana fall?  Almost dead last.  Only West Virginia was worse.  According to the article, the average Montana household should be able to save $9,000 a year, which means it would take you about 104 years to save up a million dollars.

The math might be a little sketchy, but it was interesting to see the various income vs. expenses by state.  Here is the article if you want to check it out.
