Looks like the work crews have made some progress up on Zimmerman trail.  The road is still closed, but this weekend the park was open.  Of course, whenever you're trying to detonate explosives inside boulders that weigh thousands of pounds, you have to be careful.

And if you've seen pictures of video of the project, you know that the crews are using extra care to protect the people and the properties that sit below the rims.  This is one rare example where government regulations might actually be a good thing.  Because if you put Mark and Paul in charge of fixing the rims, you'd be able to hear the blast from Laurel.

Sure, the Flakes would get the entire project done in one afternoon.  Of course, they'd end up blowing up the entire face of the rim, causing millions of dollars in property damage.  But hey, Zimmerman Trail would be open.
