Watch Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno’s ‘Tonight Show’ Duet for April Fools
The future of late night could look very different in a few years, if rumors of Jay Leno's retirement and Jimmy Fallon's ascension as host of a New York-based 'Tonight Show' prove true. And while both the 'Tonight Show' and 'Late Night' hosts have taken a few playful jabs at NBC and the rumors, April Fools gave the pair their best spotlight yet, performing a lip-synced duet of "Tonight, Tonight" in between the shows. Have a look inside!
Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno might be somewhat at odds over the fate of 'The Tonight Show,' but you wouldn't know it from the way the two joke around. For yesterday's April Fools prank, the pair managed to bridge 'The Tonight Show' and 'Late Night' by performing a recorded rendition of 'West Side Story's' "Tonight," with the lyrics changed to reflect the late-night upheaval.
The transition began after Leno's show and moved directly into Fallon's, though Leno still took several early jabs at NBC for their relationship of late. Leno slipped into his monologue that he and the network “have reached a peaceful, amicable agreement that will be beneficial to both sides... April Fools! It will never happen.”
The truth of the situation between Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon over 'The Tonight Show' will likely come out in the next few months, but in the meantime, check out the hilarious video below, and tell us what you want from the future of late night in the comments!
