Johnny Cash is going postal! The United States Postal Service has announced that the Man in Black will be a part of this year's Music Icons stamp series.

The Johnny Cash signature stamp was designed to represent a 45 record sleeve. Just like his nickname, the stamp features a head shot of the Man in Black with an inky background shadowing the rest of his body. A font that harkens back to the days when Cash was releasing albums states his name on the bottom of the stamp.

Today Entertainment reports that Cash is one of three famous musicians who will appear as part of the Music Icons series.

"We get about 40,000 suggestions for stamp ideas each year but only about 20 topics make the cut," Saunders said. "These suggestions are reviewed by the Postmaster General’s Citizens’ Stamp Advisory whose role is to narrow down that 40,000 to roughly 20 and then provide their recommendations to the Postmaster General for final approval."

Looks like the 'Ring of Fire' hitmaker was part of some stiff competition!

There's no word yet on when the Johnny Cash stamp will be available, but you can bet your cowboy boots that we'll run out and buy some as soon as they're ready for mailing.
