Kane Brown has accomplished a feat not reached since Sam Hunt did it two years ago.

Brown's self-titled debut album — which came out on Dec. 2 — hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart with 45,000 in album sales. As a result, he earned the best-selling debut country album of the past two years and the largest country debut for a new artist since Hunt's Montevallo in 2014.

The singer-songwriter co-penned seven of the album's 11 tracks.

"I'm so grateful to all the fans, and to Dann Huff, Matt McVaney and the songwriters on the album, who helped me tell my story to the world through this record," the newcomer says in a press release. "A No. 1 country album is a dream come true, made possible through the hard work of everyone involved."

Brown's chart-topping album is an impressive feat for an artist who started out by posting videos of himself singing cover songs, often from his bedroom or a bathroom, to Facebook.

“I was happy if I got 60 likes on my stuff, and then one morning I woke up and had 800 friend requests,” he tells Taste of Country in a personal cover feature. “I accepted them. Seven hundred more [requests] came through … and then after that I was like, ‘I’m gonna try to run with this. Maybe I can get internet famous.’”

Brown opened Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 Dig Your Roots Tour earlier this year and is now headlining the Monster Energy Outbreak Ain't No Stopping Us Now Tour through January.
