Kenny Chesney is leaving his label home of more than 20 years, Sony Music Nashville, to sign with Warner Music Nashville, it was revealed Jan. 16.

Chesney started his career on Atlanta-based Capricorn, joining the BNA roster (a subsidiary of Sony) to release 1995's All I Need To Know. He continued to release albums under the BNA label until 2008, when he released Lucky Old Sun under Blue Chair Records, his personal subsidiary of the BNA record label. When BNA closed in 2012, Chesney and Blue Chair moved to Columbia Records, also under the Sony Music Nashville umbrella, and he continued to release music via that avenue.

There is no word yet on why he decided to make the label leap, nor any word on plans for a successor to Cosmic Hallelujah, his Grammy-nominated 2016 album and last for the Sony label group. He'll join such artists as Blake Shelton, Hunter Hayes, Cole Swindell, Chris Janson, Randy Travis and Kenny Rogers under his new label home.

Chesney has been very involved of late in hurricane relief efforts, having done a remarkable amount of charity work in St. John (where he owns a home) after the devastating hurricanes that struck there in September 2017.
