Luke Bryan Pays Homage to a ‘Southern Gentleman’ in New Lyric Video
Luke Bryan has released the lyric video for his latest single, "Southern Gentleman," and the nostalgia for good men and good values that's present in the video perfectly matches that of the song. Honoring the values of small-town southern gentlemen, Bryan pays tribute with the touching new video.
“You looked at me like I was crazy / When I said ma’am to that little old lady / You ain’t heard talk like that lately / But I could see it’s got you smiling," croons Bryan in the first verse. "You say you still remember our first date me cooking you dinner / And how I didn’t even try to kiss you at the end of the date."
The values espoused in "Southern Gentleman" aren't just words to Bryan either. The Boot asked Bryan how he defined a southern gentleman and his answer proves that the singer strives to practice what he preaches.
"I think holding women in the utmost highest respect and being polite and being a classy person is certainly a definition of a southern gentleman," said Bryan from the red carpet at the 2016 ACM Honors. "Conducting yourself with manners and etiquette and being a good person."
The lyric video furthers Bryan's definition of a southern gentleman, using clips of all different kinds of men and revealing the sentiment that a gentleman isn't about what you do, but who you are. Businessmen, bluegrass musicians and fathers. Suit-wearing or leather-jacket clad. All different types of men can be southern gentlemen!
"Southern Gentleman" comes from Bryan's Farm Tour EP, Here’s to the Farmer. The singer will kick off his eighth annual Farm Tour on Oct. 5, playing outdoor shows at eight farms across the South and Midwest through the month.
