You know that one friend that it seems like we all have? You know, the one who swears by the foreign version of a television show or movie is always better than their American counterpart? Well here's a change to throw their own smug sense of satisfaction back in their faces! 'Luther' is an original drama from BBC One, there's no American version, and the first two seasons are available on Netflix!

'Luther' is a series about John Luther, a talented but highly volatile Detective Chief Inspector who works for a unit called the "Serious Crime Unit". The story follows Luther as works to solve some seriously brutal murders and the affects of his work on his own life and psyche.

Luther is played by British actor Idris Elba, who's  probably best know (in the Untied States) for his character Russell "Stringer" Bell, a Baltimore drug lord and aspiring businessman, in HBO's critically acclaimed show The Wire.

I decided to watch this series on a whim, and I was sucked in from the first 10 minutes of the show. I watched the first two seasons in one Sunday afternoon. In a sad twist of fate, both seasons of the show are extremely short. Six episodes in the first season and only four episodes in the second season. I've never seen back to back seasons with such a short episode count. But things are are probably done a little bit differently at the BBC.

Bottom line is, you NEED to watch this show. No excuses.
