Disney's latest 'Maleficent' trailer sure brings back fond memories of watching the animated rendition of 'Sleeping Beauty' as a kid (or watching them with your kids), but this is not that story. Angelina Jolie smolders (quite literally) as Maleficent in this origin tale of how the iconic witch came to be so ... well, malevolent.

Elle Fanning takes the role of Princess Aurora, but, as most princesses fail to comprehend, this story isn't about her. Our latest preview of the film through the new 'Maleficent' trailer shines even more light on Jolie's (high cheek bones and her) villainous transformation, while featuring new looks at the supporting cast, including the three CG-heavy fairies (Juno Temple as Thistlewit, Imelda Staunton as Knotgrass, and Lesley Manville as Flittle), the ever versatile Sharlto Copley as Aurora's father, and up-in-comer Brenton Thwaites as Prince Phillip.

From the official plot synopsis:

'Maleficent’ explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

In addition to the 'Maleficent' trailer, a batch of new movie stills and an alternate poster premiered online not too long ago, giving closer looks at the cast, including Angelina Jolie's daughter, Vivienne, as a much younger Princess Aurora. As the actress joked during the film's preview from last year's D23 Expo, Vivienne was the only child on set who wasn't afraid of her.

UPDATE: Tomorrow the truth about 'Maleficent' will be revealed, as Disney announced a full trailer dropping tomorrow. Here's a quick preview of what's coming:

'Maleficent' hits theaters this May 30.
