Here's some unsettling news for local hunters and trappers.  The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks has withdrawn their legislative bid to protect the identity of people who kill wildlife.

FWP had previously planned to propose a law which would keep the names and addresses of hunters or trappers confidential.  Of course, we all know how important hunting, fishing and trapping is to Montana's economy and way of life.  And we all know how aggressive anti-fur groups and wildlife advocates can be.

Personal information for hunters and trappers will be available to these wildlife activists under the disguise of Montana's Right to Know Law.  Keep in mind, you don't have the right to know if your underage daughter is having an abortion.  But wildlife activists can harass private citizens. When hunters are targeted by wildlife activists, who may attempt to interrupt or interfere with their outdoor activities, it's only a matter of time before a violent altercation will occur.

Hopefully, we haven't seen the end of this issue.  Someone needs to stand up and protect hunter's rights. Until  then, the Flakes encourage any hunter or trapper who is being pestered or bothered by wildlife advocates to report them to local police and charge them with harassment.
