Montana Man Who Murdered 3 People in 2011 May be Released
Sheldon Chase committed a triple murder in October of 2011 on the Crow Indian Reservation outside of Billings. Authorities now may set him free. The 24 year old Montana man is being held at a federal facility in Missouri at this time. Experts in that state are trying to determine if Chase should be committed to a government mental hospital for treatment or be released into the community.
My “expert” opinion on this matter is using common sense! The man killed three people! One of the murdered was his 80 year old grandmother. Court documents state that Chase killed all three with a rifle in front of a 3 year old child.
It has been determined that Chase is not competent to stand trial for the slayings. So my question is, why would he be released to any community? It seems to me since he is not fit to stand trial then he should be locked up in a mental hospital.
Correct me if I am wrong, but this is a slap on the wrist. He killed 3 people! What is the problem?
