Murder and Kidnapping Gets Billings Man 100 Years in Prison
On January 17th, 2013 Simon Jacobson committed a brutal crime. Jacobson kidnapped former Billings resident, Dejuan Laster who was visiting from Illinois.
Jacobson and another man, James Walker posed as FBI agents at a motel in Billings, kidnapped Laster and drove to Shepherd and robbed and shot the man to death. The two men tried to dispose of the body in a culvert in Shepherd.
The robbery netted the men $8,000. Jacobson fled to Colorado where he was arrested on January 20th, 2013 where he admitted to the crimes.
On January 10th, 2014, Judge Gregory Todd sentenced Jacobson to 100 years in prison for kidnapping and two counts of robbery. Laster was shot four times in the face and head.
Simon Jacobson spoke to Laster’s family during the hearing,
I’d like to give my deepest and sincerest apology for my actions,” he said. “Unfortunately, I took Dejuan’s life and I can never change that.
James Walker is being held at the Yellowstone County jail awaiting trial at the end of January. He is being held on $1 million bond.
