Last night I came bounding down the steps, carrying some bags, when I suddenly got a nice reminder about gravity. My bottom step outside of my house catches all of the runoff water, so it is often the only step that is icy. The first nine steps build your confidence, then this one takes you down. The step was well salted, but that didn't matter in this case.

This kind of stuff doesn't bother me now. I might get a little skinned up, but it's never anything major. If I should happen to get old, however, I'll probably start worrying about it a little more. If my 95-year-old neighbor had taken the spill I did, she very well might have been seriously injured.
