A few weeks ago my 16 year old nephew Gavin was in a really bad ATV accident.  He crushed two vertebrae in his neck and was in the ICU in Bozeman for a couple of weeks to stabilize him enough for transport. Last week he was flown to the Craig Hospital in Denver where they specialize in spinal trauma rehabilitation. He's extremely lucky to be alive. It will be months, if not maybe years, before he can hopefully walk again. As you can imagine, the whole experience has been quite heartbreaking for my family and the neighboring communities where my nephew lives (Three Forks and Toston, MT).

The towns of Bozeman, Three Forks, Townsend, Manhattan, Belgrade and many others have shown their support with their high school teams wearing the #Gstrong shirts at games, holding various fundraisers, making wristbands, t-shirts and more. Maybe you even saw Gavins story on our local news a while back.

Here's where the power of small towns and the connection of people gets kind of cool.  A friend of a friend of the family who grew up in the Gallatin Valley has been following our families story thru Facebook.  He works for the Minnesota Twins.  And somehow he got #Gtrong on the scoreboard at a recent Twins game.  Look at the lower right hand corner of the pic. How cool is that??!  It made me drip a little tear, actually.

If you would like to follow along on Gavin's recovery, the #Gstrong Facebook page is here.  Here's a pic of my brother and family with G in Denver last week:

I'm not one for asking for help,  but #Gstrong is having a fundraiser in Three Forks October 21 and we could use more items for the silent and live auctions. If you would be able to donate, can you please reach out to me? Michael.Foth@townsquaremedia.com.  I know they can really use the support.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.  He's a strong kid.  #Gstrong.
