If I do say so myself, I'm a pretty good cook. I'm also a decent baker. The pumpkin pie I baked in the picture doesn't look half bad does it? The butter crust was great! The pie itself... not so much. It tastes like a custard pie with a hint of pumpkin and it's yellow and not orange.

What am I doing wrong. I bought a baking pumpkin and followed the instructions. Baked it, scooped out the pulp, combined it with eggs, evaporated milk, milk, pumpkin pie spice and baked it for the right period of time, just like the recipe said and I'm good at following recipes... but it tasted nothing like a pumpkin pie. When I buy the pumpkin from a can and follow that recipe it works perfectly. What is the difference. If you know please comment below. Thanks.
