Today is National Read A Book Day, but according to some studies, not many of us read these days. One study back in 2003 said that about 44% of people will never read a book again after college. I've been trying to change my Youtube and Netflix loving ways to include some devoted reading time, but I haven't been as successful as I'd planned. So far in 2018 I've read exactly 2 books cover to cover and I'm about a third of the way through Stephen King's "It".

My 10 year old daughter and I recently started reading Treasure Island and will hopefully finish it before her teen years. Reading is one of the best mental exercises you can do to keep your brain sharp, so I'm really hoping that she decides to make reading a life long habit.
