The Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans each won in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday. Here’s a recap of each game:

Green Bay 24 — Minnesota 10

Aaron Rodgers threw for 274 yards and a touchdown, and the Packers’ defense victimized Vikings’ back-up quarterback Joe Webb for three sacks and two turnovers, as Green Bay beat Minnesota, 24-10, in Green Bay on Saturday night in the wild-card round of the NFC playoffs. As a result of the win, the Packers advanced to play the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco next Saturday.

After the Vikings scored on Blair Walsh’s 33-yard field goal with 9:26 left in the first quarter, the Packers surged back with 17 unanswered points before halftime, including a 3-yard scoring run by John Kuhn with 0:38 left in the second quarter.

Webb, a last-minute substitute for injured Minnesota starter Christian Ponder, completed just 11 of 30 passes for 180 yards in the game. He also ran for 68 yards, often after being flushed from the pocket by the Packers’ pass rush. After falling behind by as much as 21 points, the Vikings were unable to use star running back Adrian Peterson as often as usual. He finished with 99 rushing yards on 22 carries after gaining 199 yards against Green Bay last Sunday.

Kuhn scored a 9-yard touchdown reception with 9:25 left in the third quarter to all but put the game out of reach for Minnesota. The Vikings didn’t score again until Webb connected with Michael Jenkins on a 50-yard scoring pass with 3:39 to play.

Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews had two sacks of Webb and forced a fumble that he recovered. DuJuan Harris ran for 47 yards and a score for the Packers.

Houston 19 — Cincinnati 13

Arian Foster ran for 140 yards and a touchdown, and the Houston Texans beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 19-13, in Houston on Saturday in the wild-card round of the AFC playoffs. With the victory, the Texans advanced to play the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass. next Sunday.

Using the running of Foster to set up scoring opportunities, Houston jumped out to a 6-0 lead, before Cincinnati scored its only touchdown of the game on a 21-yard interception return by Leon Hall with 9:30 left in the second quarter. Shayne Graham’s third field goal of the first half gave the Texans a 9-7 lead at halftime.

Foster’s touchdown with 10:31 left in the third quarter extended Houston’s lead to 16-7. He became the first player in NFL history with at least 100 yards rushing in his first three postseason games. The Texans’ stingy defense sacked Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton twice and kept Cincinnati from the end zone in the second half.

The Bengals gained just 198 yards on offense in the game. Dalton passed for just 127 yards, while receiver A.J. Green had five receptions for 80 yards.

Houston quarterback Matt Schaub completed 29 of 38 passes for 262 yards. Tight end Owen Daniels caught nine passes for 91 yards.
